WHY IS PHYSICAL FITNESS
IMPORTANT FOR YOUR GAME?

Contrary to popular belief, golf involves a good amount of physical activity. A round of golf combines the use of our ATP (adenosine triphospate) and aerobic systems for energy. Golf fitness training is valuable, no matter how long you’ve been in the game. Here are some reasons why exercise can benefit you.

01

INJURY PREVENTION/ GAME LONGEVITY

Golf recruits muscles across the entire body. Lack of Mobility, Strength, Stability can all contribute to certain swing characteristics that may increase the risk of injury. On a daily basis we see clients experiencing problems with their lower back, wrists, elbows, shoulders and rotator-cuffs just to name a few.

02

CLUBHEAD SPEED

Speed comes from a good use of the kinematic sequence, that sequence is lower body first, trunk or torso second, arms third, club last. Each segment of the body builds on the previous, increasing speed up the chain. Any weakness (stability, strength, coordination, mobility) in each of the segments becomes a limitation to our speed potential.

03

BETTER CONTROL

The golf swing is pretty fast. The better control/coordination we have of our body the better we can make swing changes/feel the swing, leading to better control of the golf club on course.

04

REDUCE FATIGUE

Fatigue prevention is key to maintaining our technique through 18 holes. Keeping up with your fitness can give you the stamina to make it through 18 holes or even multi-day tournaments.

COME IN FOR A TPI ASSESSMENT (TITLEIST PERFORMANCE INSTITUTE)

TPI is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. The most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. This TPI screening is a physical fitness and movement quality screening. We will go through a series of 16 movements to determine if there are any weaknesses we can target.

Our strength & conditioning coaches will then go through with you a series of exercises that will help target weaknesses we identify in the screening. These exercises will mainly be at-home exercises that can be done with very little equipment in the comfort of your own home.

At the end of the session, we will send you your TPI assessment report which will outline how the weaknesses identified can affect how you swing the golf club. It may also be a lightbulb moment for reasons leading to difficulty in addressing certain swing characteristics you have worked on with your golf coach in the past! Depending on your needs, whether you’d like to invest 1 or 2 hours per week with us, we may put together a training program tailored to your commitment and schedule.
